Consistent company growth and further expansion into local markets has imposed a requirement for a High Voltage Technician to join our expanding team, based out of our Darwin office on a permanent full-time basis.
Applicants either need to live locally or be willing to relocate. Powertech are happy to discuss relocation costs from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Electrical Workers License.
  • Engineering Degree or Diploma in Power Systems (highly regarded).
  • 5 years of HV technical experience (highly regarded).
  • HV Switching Ticket (highly regarded).
  • Experience with IEC61850 and GOOSE messaging through IED Scout (highly regarded).
  • Knowledge of appropriate Australian and International Standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in using the Omicron suite of test and measurement equipment.
  • Power Station experience (highly regarded).

Responsibilities:

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidates who can demonstrate a high theoretical and practical knowledge with a wide range of HV primary plant and especially secondary systems are highly regarded.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Commissioning, testing and maintaining HV Protections systems / schemes.
  • Commissioning, testing and maintaining HV Substations secondary systems and primary plant.
  • Commissioning, testing and maintaining various HV and LV Plant/Assets.
  • Commissioning, testing and maintaining Power Generation Systems desirable.
  • Commissioning, testing and maintaining Power Transformers.
  • Competent in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, protection test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.
