Description:

Job Introduction
Would you like to be part of a small, friendly, and dynamic team which uses its specialist knowledge of the High Weald National Landscape to make a positive impact?
The High Weald National Landscape Partnership leads on integrated and collaborative approaches to addressing ecological, social, and economic challenges within one of the most cherished landscapes in the UK. We work with everyone: government agencies; non-profit organizations; farmers, foresters and other land managers; local communities; and private sector entities to manage, conserve, and enhance the area and further understanding and enjoyment of it.
The National Landscape team’s work has a wide scope which allows for exploration of innovative and diverse approaches to developing best practices and driving effective action. As part of our team, you will advocate the unique qualities of the High Weald National Landscape and empower communities to take action that benefits climate, nature, people, and place.
This role is pivotal to connecting people of all ages and backgrounds with the High Weald’s landscape: to foster appreciation, enable access and participation, improve social cohesion and well-being and drive positive landscape change.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about:

  • Stakeholder engagement: fostering relationships with various groups in and around the area to address barriers to access and participation
  • Education and outreach: setting up workshops, training sessions, walks and talks and other events to involve people in the High Weald
  • Coordination: taking a lead on the planning, implementation, and monitoring of community initiatives
  • Data-driven decisions: gathering, utilising and sharing data to inform and optimize community engagement activity.

The High Weald National Landscape is renowned for its historical significance and natural beauty. Spanning 1,461 square kilometres, it is the largest national landscape in the South-East and the fourth largest in England and Wales.
East Sussex County Council, as the Partnership’s host authority employs our team. You’ll work in a hybrid environment, based in our innovative office at Flimwell on the Kent/Sussex border.
