The post holder is a clinical lead in acute nutrition support based in Prince Charles Hospital. This post will focus on delivering a quality, evidence based specialist nutrition support dietetic service to patients within the Health Board Area.
To work autonomously managing a specialist complex and varied caseload of patients with complex nutrition support needs in addition to different clinical conditions, including stroke, complex surgery and gastroenterology identifying, planning and delivering highly specialist dietetic interventions demonstrating expertise in this area of clinical speciality.
To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by the use of evidence based outcomes.
Lead on specific clinical audit/research projects within area of speciality.
To provide leadership for junior staff and support staff and contribute to their development, as a delegated supervisor, and undertake annual performance review of junior staff.
To be a lead student trainer, responsible for the coordination and development of training programmes as well as providing direct training to students.
To work in collaboration with ward multidisciplinary teams, identifying service improvements and taking forward developments in line with dietetic annual plan, and strategic developments of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Annex 21
This is a training and development role under Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions.
The Highly Specialist Dietician will be required to undertake up to 36 month training/development programme upon commencement of this role, with an aim to attain the Master’s Degree qualification OR completion of complex nutrition support competencies and post-registration experience to Master’s equivalency.
Completion of the qualification/competencies is a requirement of the contract of employment .
During this training period, salary will be paid in accordance with Annex 21 of the Terms and Conditions as follows :
Months 1 - 12 of the training period will be paid at 65% of the top of Band 7 pay scale,
Months 13-24 of the training period will be paid at 70% of the top of Band 7 pay scale,
Months 25-36 of the training period will be paid at 75% of the top of Band 7 pay scale.
Upon successful attainment of the qualifications/competencies and experience listed above, even if sooner than the 36 month allocated timeframe, the post holder will automatically move to the bottom of the Band 7 pay scale (without financial detriment), as they will then meet the full KSF outline of this role and be expected to undertake all duties within this Job Description as indicated.
NOTE : There will be some circumstances where current staff apply for these posts, and their new trainee salary will be below that of their current salary. To aid both the recruitment and development of staff it is recommended that staff across NHS Wales should have continuity of pay for the duration of the training to avoid financial detriment. This should apply when staff take up training posts both within and across NHS Wales organisations. Following this training, the remuneration will be the bottom of Band 7, again without financial detriment
