Description:

Homerton Healthcare has a small but special Band 7 occupational therapy neurorehabilitation rotation across two teams. We have a strong reputation for growing our own excellent OT’s and champion the unique contribution that our OT’s bring to healthcare. If you are a driven and experienced band 6 or existing band 7 who wishes to further their career in neurorehabilitation as a Band 7, we would love to consider you for this maternity cover.
The maternity cover is on the acute stroke unit however depending on the skills of the successful applicant, the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit may be an option. We welcome all interested candidates with relevant NHS experience and secondments from other Trusts are welcomed.
We will support you to develop your neurological OT expertise through joint sessions, training opportunities, engagement in service and strategic objectives and operational leadership. You will benefit from peer support as well as supervision and clinical support from a B8a clinical specialist OT. You will share your expertise through student education, delivering teaching programmes, and contributing to service development activities, audit and quality improvement work. There are excellent opportunities and encouragement for continued professional development, including internal and external training.
Please be aware that this post may close early once sufficient applications have been received
Working as a band 7 OT will help you to further develop advanced assessment and intervention skills in complex cognition, behavioural management, physical management, arousal levels, and clinical leadership skills.
The Stroke Unit includes acute and rehab stroke beds for Hackney patients. Our stroke specialist multidisciplinary team includes stroke rehabilitation nurses and consultants, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech & language therapists, dieticians, clinical neuropsychologists and therapy assistants, social workers, and discharge coordinators. We work closely with our therapy colleagues from Integrated Independence Team (ESD), Adult Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team and our local charity, the ‘Stroke Project’. We are a dynamic, patient centred and quality improvement focused stroke pathway with several exciting local and pathway projects that this post-holder will be part of. Our therapy service is well respected within the stroke network with a well-resourced team and an established record of excellent clinical SSNAP ratings.
The RNRU is a level 1b unit in London supporting patients with complex cognitive and/or complex physical disability. Our specialist multi-disciplinary team consists of neuro specialist nurses and consultants; a neuro AHP consultant leads our therapy team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, neuropsychology, social work, a leisure coordinator and therapy assistants.
