HCRG Care Group is seeking a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based interventions for children and young people with complex needs. In this role, you will work closely with education professionals, parents, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to support the Occupational Therapy needs of children with Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs).

About The Company

Responsibilities:

CORE DUTIES:

  • Lead day-to-day line management of a therapy team, providing specialist, child-centred care for a designated caseload.
  • Collaborate with educational professionals, parents, and the multidisciplinary team to address the OT needs of children and young people as part of their EHCP.
  • Contribute to the EHCP process, including annual reviews and updates to schools, parents, and the Service Manager.
  • Supervise and support therapy assistants, students, and less experienced therapists, while providing training and expertise within your clinical area.
  • Participate in service development, performance targets, and contribute to operational issues with the Children’s Community Health Team.

PLANNING AND ORGANISATIONAL TASKS:

  • Independently manage a complex caseload across various educational settings.
  • Advise on and source specialist equipment for use at home and school.
  • Support the Service Manager in meeting performance targets and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Plan and deliver training to professionals and carers, ensuring alignment with service goals and local/national objectives.

PATIENT CARE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess, diagnose, and develop therapy care plans for children with complex needs, collaborating with parents and professionals.
  • Provide advice and training to other health, social care, education, and voluntary services.
  • Participate in multiagency meetings and case conferences, ensuring clear communication of findings and recommendations.
  • Plan discharge from SEND therapy services with appropriate referrals, and adapt care to meet individual child and family needs.
