Description:

We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and driven Dietitian to join our dynamic Child Health team! If you’re someone who thrives on making a positive difference in the lives of children, has excellent communication skills, and is eager to further develop your expertise, we want to hear from you!
This role is based primarily at Royal Preston Hospital, with occasional clinics at Chorley Hospital. It’s a permanent position, offering 3 days a week (22.5 hours) of fulfilling and impactful work.
As part of a supportive team of seven paediatric dietitians, you’ll have the chance to expand your skills in Paediatric Dietetics, while working closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team of paediatricians, nurses, and allied health professionals. You’ll be encouraged to take on an autonomous role, with plenty of opportunities for professional growth, innovation, and continued learning.
Our team is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of care, fostering a culture of collaboration, and supporting the development of future dietitians through student training. If you’re looking for a rewarding career with a team that truly values your contributions, this could be the perfect fit for you!
You will deliver general paediatric dietetic sessions in both the outpatient and ward setting and will be an integral member of the Child Health team. You will attend the CF MDT and shared care clinics and will be the lead in the team for inpatient eating disorder admissions. The role will involve liaising with other health care professionals, social care, community and safeguarding teams. Teaching, audit, and research will also be encouraged.
You should be HCPC registered and able to demonstrate significant post registration experience at a minimum of Band 6 level. Experience in child health dietetics is essential. You should have excellent communication skills, including the ability to motivate and promote change as well as experience of MDT working.
You would join a team of over 35 experienced and forward-thinking Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and Administrative staff. Our Child Health Dietetic Team covers a busy general paediatric department that includes inpatients, outpatients, MDT clinics, group education sessions, the neonatal intensive care unit and community home enteral feeding. We are well established within the children’s and young people’s division and work closely with all members of the MDT.
We are committed to the continuing professional development of our team and will provide you with learning and development opportunities as part of your role. We are devoted to your wellbeing, with a number of Trust initiatives available to support staff.
We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.
Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.
You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
To be responsible for the development and provision of a specialist, evidence based dietetic service for children and young people and their families, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

To provide an inpatient dietetic service for children & young people admitted with an eating disorder which will include development of standardised meal plans and regular liaison with the community eating disorder team.
To be responsible for a highly specialist clinical caseload undertaking expert assessments, treatment, management and discharge plans for patients. This will include inpatient cover on a rotational basis and regular paediatric dietetic clinics.
To be an autonomous practitioner within your field, using high levels of knowledge, skills, experience and clinical judgement.
To plan, develop, organise, evaluate and improve practice within the defined clinical area including the development of protocols and guidelines.
To work in partnership with relevant professionals and teams within Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Lancashire Care Foundations Trust and the wider ICS.
