We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly Macmillan Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) team. Our service covers pre-treatment clinics, the HNC surgical ward, and follow-up rehabilitation clinics. We are a HNC Surgical Cancer Centre for patients from Bradford, Airedale, Calderdale and Huddersfield.
You will join two supportive HNC Speech and Language Therapists, who are skilled in surgical voice restoration, nasendoscopy, Fibreoptic Endoscopic Examination of Swallowing (FEES) and Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFSS).
We have excellent links with the MDT, ENT, local Speech and Language Therapy teams and our regional Cancer Centre at Leeds. You will benefit from peer support, supervision and training as required.
These 2 sessions are offered as bank sessions or permanent, depending upon your preference. Please contact us to discuss this, and state in the application form your preference.
We welcome conversations to discuss the role and visits to the department prior to applying.
This role will involve one session managing a small, but varied caseload on the HNC ward following surgery, including those with dysphagia, laryngectomy and dysphonia. The second session will include the laryngectomy out-patient clinic including stoma care, voice prosthesis management and communication therapy.
You will be enthusiastic to work as a team with SLT and MDT colleagues, including delivering joint intervention, goal-setting, training and support.
Dysphagia and head and neck cancer experience and competencies are essential to this post.
