Description:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen through collaborative and partnership working with the acute trusts, which has resulted in a number of new posts being resourced within the service level agreement.
This exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join the Acute Stroke team. You will join a team of speech and language therapists and Support practitioners who sit within the Acute Stroke team awho cover the two Acute Stroke wards at Northampton General Hospital. This is a full time substantive post of 37.5 hours per week.
. Northampton General Hospital has a dynamic and highly rated stroke service as the designated Centre for countywide Acute stroke services. There are close working relationships with the stroke MDT and Northamptonshire community stroke services including strong networking and in-service training opportunities.
The Acute Stroke service provides Acute and Rehab Sprovision across two wards within Northampton General Hospital.
The successful post holder will be an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with highly specialist knowledge of differential diagnosis associated with Stroke, including complex dysphagia and complex communication.
They will independently manage and prioritise a complex, highly specialist caseload of complex dysphagia and complex Stroke.
They will provide leadership with the other Band 7’s within the Acute Stroke Team.
They will support/mentor junior colleagues and provide expert opinions to others, including s upervise, appraise and develop Band 6 and 5 Physiotherapist, Band 4 and 3 staff and student SLTs in the team.
Support Band 7 and Band 8 staff in managing and planning the Acute Stroke rehabilitation services, deputising for team lead as required.
They will provide clinical teaching of Speech and Language Therapy students and will develop and deliver specialist training to others in the area of clinical expertise.
They will initiate and undertake research/Clinical Governance/audit projects within area of expertise.
To be involved with Videoflouroscopy with individuals who have suffered a stroke, taking part in analysing the images on PAX and writing the reports. .
