Description:

Fowler is searching for licensed AZ or DZ drivers to operate a tandem or tri-axle snow plow, or combination plow/spreader units, for the winter season.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold and maintain a valid AZ or DZ driver’s license and clean CVOR.
  • OTM Book 7 Training is considered an asset.
  • Experience in highway maintenance and plowing is considered an asset.
  • A high commitment to personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Must be capable of self-loading the truck (training will be provided).
  • Strong work ethic, reliable and highly motivated.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision.
  • Be capable of communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to stand, lift 50 lbs., carry, bend, reach, climb.

Responsibilities:

  • Safe and efficient operation of the spreader, plow wing or combo unit, to perform winter maintenance operations on MTO designated highways as per the contract.
  • Prepare, maintain, and operate heavy maintenance equipment such as loaders, backhoes, skid steers, etc.
  • Prepare, maintain, and operate light duty maintenance equipment such as steamers, chainsaws, gas powered hand tools, etc.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including but not limited to pre-trips, fuel reports, safety reports and hours of service, and all required winter maintenance documentation such as Winter Operations Records.
  • Maintain and clean equipment and conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs as required and/or instructed by area supervisor.
  • Carry out any additional highway maintenance activities, facility maintenance and patrol yard maintenance as required and/or instructed by area supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable acts and regulations (such as speed limits, seatbelts, no handheld devices while driving, etc.).
  • Understand and follow all contractual requirements, including call response time, route maps, documentation, etc.
  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, and traffic violations to the area supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
