HISTORY OF ART TUTOR (PAA)

Job description
Commencing: September 2025
Art History is offered at Bedford School as an additional co-curricular after-school lesson for pupils and a later lesson for adults (who are typically friends or families of the school community).
The class is attended by boys from all year groups interested in Art, but is predominantly Sixth Form Art students looking to expand and enhance their knowledge of Art History in preparation for art degree applications. The pupil course is also offered to other local and partner schools. A number of pupils have subsequently gone on to study Art History at degree level after following the course.
The format has traditionally followed a 25-week course of an hour and a quarter for the pupil session and slightly longer for adults, both take place on a Monday evening from 4.30-5.45 (pupils) and 7.30- 9.00 (adults). Each week a different art work is studied in depth with the course following a chronological format.
These timings and format are, however, not fixed and we are happy to receive expressions of interest from candidates who would propose a different model. We are looking to find someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about the importance of Art History who can engage both young people and adults and encourage discussion.
