PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are looking for motivated, caring individuals who want to be part of our team that will play their part in the Government’s drive to cut reoffending through effective rehabilitation; enabling offenders to turn their lives around for good. We will provide a safe, secure environment at HMP Millsike, thus providing reassurance to the public and victims of crime that perpetrators are serving a secure sentence for their crimes.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Candidates should have operational experience in prisons at a management level, along with previous relevant experience in a custodial or secure environment, which is required for this role. Managerial experience leading a team of at least 5 to 15 staff is also necessary. Basic to intermediate IT skills are expected, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as some experience in updating central data systems.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

It is preferred that candidates possess technical knowledge of relevant prison legislation, policies, standards, and inspection and audit processes, along with an understanding of the wider criminal justice system. Silver command training is also desirable, as well as successful completion of incident and hostage management training and adjudication training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications or relevant experience equivalent to Level 3 or above are preferred. This includes A levels, Advanced Apprenticeships, AS Levels, International Baccalaureate diplomas, Level 3 Awards, Certificates, and Diplomas, as well as Level 3 NVQ accreditations.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for managing all aspects of security and operations including maintaining a secure and safe prison. You will be making sure that we comply with the NSF, PSIs & Policy frameworks and our procedures conform with the latest Policy Frameworks. You will be maintaining high standards that we achieve positive outcomes in OSAG and IPCO audits. You will ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company policies and procedures and HMPPS standards, policies and procedures where applicable.
This role will also undertake the role of Duty Director and Chair Adjudications. You will support, supervise, motivate and monitor staff to ensure an effective service is delivered across the Prison. You will lead on the delivery of a safe, secure and decent environment creating a ‘Rehabilitative & Restorative Culture’ for staff and prisoners.
