Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Home Care Assistant to join our team in Shrewsbury, United Kingdom. This role offers guaranteed hours contracts, providing stability and consistency for both our carers and clients. As a Home Care Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals who require assistance in their own homes.

  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring client safety at all times
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when necessary
  • Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment
  • Remind clients to take prescribed medications as per care plan
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to clients
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments or social activities when required
  • Monitor and report any changes in client’s condition to the care coordinator
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and any incidents or concerns
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families
  • Empathetic and patient-focused approach to care
  • Basic medical knowledge and understanding of common health conditions in elderly care
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Physical ability to assist with client mobility and transfers
  • Previous experience in home care or healthcare setting (preferred but not essential)
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (preferred, but not essential. All relevant training provided)
  • Valid First Aid and Manual Handling certifications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Clean DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (preferred)
