Description:

We are looking to recruit a horticultural fitter to work with our Leeds contract maintaining the vehicles and machines in operation there.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A full clean driving licence
  • Previous service and maintenance experience with vehicles/plant/horticultural machinery.

Responsibilities:

KEY DUTIES

  • Servicing and repairing all horticultural equipment
  • Fault finding and diagnostic work
  • Attending various sites for breakdowns
  • Welding/fabrication
  • Able to work on Petrol & Diesel engines as well as Hydraulic systems

TASKS

  1. To carry out good housekeeping in keeping fitting shop & yard clean at all times. Ensuring that only authorised personnel have access to the workshop facility.
  2. To organise and receive deliveries of parts following the companies policies and procedures keeping a moving stock list of parts.
  3. To book in to the plant repair entry log/register various items of equipment as they are brought in for repair ensuring that the company’s policies and procedures are followed.
  4. To clean various items of plant & machinery prior to works being carried out.
  5. To carry out the general maintenance, both scheduled and reactive of varied horticultural plant and equipment. E.g. – Hedge cutters; chainsaws; blowers; compact tractors; trailers; mowers, etc.
  6. Liaise with external business’s to ensure that correct and relevant support is provided to the contracts in relation to the vehicle fleet.
  7. Respond to daily issues raised by colleagues as they complete the daily and weekly safety inspections of their plant, machinery and vehicles including “in the field” breakdown support.
  8. Carry out random inspections of all vehicles and equipment to check for serviceability and cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the vehicle and that any defects found are reported to your line Manager at the earliest opportunity.
  9. Conduct in-service training .i.e. tool box talks to explain work procedures and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
  10. Adhere to all Continental Landscapes Environmental, HR, Fleet, IT, Phone, H&S policies and procedures.
  11. Ensure that all equipment and consumables are stored within company guidelines and that full attention is paid to all aspects of Health & Safety.
  12. Ensure that correct PPE is worn at all times.
  13. Ensure that all consumables and waste products are disposed of in line with the company’s ENV14001 policy.
  14. To carry out various ground maintenance duties as requested by your line manager.
