We are hiring a Hospital Facilities Engineer to join our dynamic team at our new Bon Secours Hospital in Limerick. Currently under construction, the new Hospital opens in 2025 and is being built to the highest technical, accessibility and sustainability standards. This new state-of-the-art hospital will provide advanced medical and surgical care in addition to a Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), 25 single room Medical Ward, Specialist Ophthalmology Department, and Interventional Cardiovascular Lab to mention just a few.
This role plays a pivotal part in managing the relationships with external partners responsible for various services, including building maintenance, technical systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), security, waste management, grounds management, clinical engineering and more. The Hospital Facilities Engineer ensures that these services are delivered efficiently and to the required standards.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer the Hospital Facilities Engineer will be responsible for supporting all operations, maintenance, regulatory compliance, procurement and continuous improvement of all Facilities Systems and Equipment for the site. They will also have responsibility for overseeing the implementation and compliance of the Energy Management System, including the continuous efficiency review of Facilities systems operations, and the efficient design review of all new equipment and processes.

Person Specification
Education
- Degree level in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a full knowledge of associated regulation is essential.
- Health & Safety Qualification is desirable.
- Be a Member or Chartered Member of the Institute of Engineers of Ireland is desirable.
Experience
- Experience in the planning and supervision of maintenance procedures in a hospital or a similar large organisation is essential.
- Have a proven track record of management and leadership, most likely in facilities and / or contracts / projects is essential.
- Supervisory Management is desirable.
- Experience and Knowledge of construction principles and building processes is desirable.
- Building Construction and Maintenance Building Regulations Electrical and Mechanical Systems.
Skills
- Strong Project Management skills
- Excellent Communication Skills.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical building services.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, CAP and MS Office, or similar.
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety and workplace regulations.
- Computer Skills.
