Responsibilities:

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Restaurant:

  • Greets and seats guests, presents menus to guests, informs them of special catch and soups.
  • Ensures proper set up of dining room and tables in order to keep track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
  • Politely announces wait times to guests when applicable and suggests browsing our retail shop while waiting for a table.
  • Attentively corresponds with servers to ensure they are aware of customers seated.
  • Cleans, organizes and stocks menus at host area.
  • Answers phone and responds to questions concerning the menu and restaurant hours of operation.
  • Takes information regarding parties or reservations and consults with manager prior to booking.
  • Fills to-go orders, when needed.

Retail:

  • Assists customers in answering product questions, pointing out promotions, and offering samples. Assists customer with special orders to include arranging UPS shipping when requested.
  • Maintains well-stocked and presentable shelves throughout the entire store; replenishes samples when needed.
  • Stays current with sale prices; processes any necessary merchandise returns; participates as needed in end-of-day closing activities.
  • Receives orders on stock day, prices, and puts out on shelves. Keeps track of date products are received and checks for expiration dates. Takes stock inventory as directed.

Shared Duties:

  • Treats all guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strives to exceed guests’ expectations and ensures everyone is thanked for joining us on their way out.
  • Interacts with guests as they arrive and as they leave Taste of Smithfield to ensure positive dining and/or shopping experience.
  • Rings up sales in the POS system providing change and receipts as appropriate for restaurant and retail as appropriate.

  • Retail store environment where use of step stool or ladder is necessary on occasion. Ability to work in close proximities such as stockrooms or behind counter. Must be able to navigate stairs on the sales floor.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Frequently required to stand for extended periods of time; stoop, sit, bend and reach for/retrieve products from fixtures, gather trash, and break down cardboard boxes.
  • Frequently lift and/or move boxes up to 40 pounds
