Summary:
We are a manufacturing firm seeking a full-time permanent hot dip galvanizer. Attention to detail and good communication skills are a must. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in any of the following: galvanizing processes, order preparation, and shipping. Manufacturing background is considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct steel galvanizing operations and processes.
- Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove grease, paint, tar, rust and dirt.
- Loading parts on rolling carts/wagons using forklift and/or overhead crane.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic production/manufacturing equipment.
- Operate Overhead Crane.
- Mechanical aptitude and awareness - hand tools, basic hydraulics, safe operation of machines.
- Ensure items are hung safely prior to dipping.
- Ensure dipping paperwork is completed correctly.
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed by all employees whilst working at the kettle and surrounding the kettle.
- Have a strong sense of initiative and creative thinking to ensure quality products are manufactured.
- Work well in a team environment – promoting an environment of collaboration and support.
- Ensuring all necessary safety, manufacturing and quality procedures are followed.
- Multi-tasking on the production line.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Track and record production.
- Staging material in priority sequence for work orders to minimize machine downtime.
- Inspect and measure finished work-pieces to determine conformance to specifications.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining production equipment for operation.
- Handle and move materials and pieces, using lifting devices as required.
- Coordination of shipping.
- General labour duties as assigned, additional general responsibilities will be assigned during less busy times.
