Description:

Explora Journeys is a vibrant, cosmopolitan, European newly created cruise luxury brand inspired by Swiss Hospitality and luxury in Geneva. Leveraging our parent company MSC Group’s hundreds of years of maritime expertise, we are operating two of a planned fleet of six ships designed and operated in a way to elevate luxury cruising to the next level. We are creating a new independent team, able to write a new successful chapter of the MSC Group history.

Reporting into the Vice President of Explora Technical Operations, the Hotel Engineering Supervisor is the first point of contact for issues related to back-of-the-house technical items, including but not limited to HVAC, Galley\/Laundry equipment and plumbing items. The successful candidate attends periodic visits on board our Explora vessels during operations, performing inspections and audits, overseeing projects, renovations or refurbishments in areas of responsibility, preparing reports and making written recommendations.

  • 5 years’ experience on board cruise vessels, at least 2 years as Hotel engineer or equivalent role
  • Proficient in HVAC systems and regulations regarding the management of refrigerant gases
  • Good knowledge of Asset Management Systems for planned and unplanned maintenance
  • Fluent English, oral and written
  • Luxury Cruise experience would be preferred.
  • MS Office tools knowledge (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team
  • Strong ability to prioritise and work effectively under tight deadlines
  • Leads and manages in coordination with the onboard Hotel Maintenance Engineers the hotel technical teams, establishing priorities and guidelines
  • Ensures that maintenance of assets under the area of responsibility is performed according to Company standards as well as environmental and health standards
  • Oversees the planning and execution of all dry-dock works under the managed area of competence
  • Manages ship requisition and ensures cost-effectiveness approach toward the annual budgets
  • Advises company on energy-saving opportunities and cost-effective measures
  • Maintains regular contact with the Hotel Maintenance Engineers onboard
  • Assists vessels in solving technical issues in the area of responsibility
  • Works in conjunction with and under the direction of the Engine Superintendent
  • Manages all the planned and unplanned jobs in the Hotel areas.
