Description:

The Salthill Hotel is looking for a Meetings and Events porter. The M&E porter helps ensure that meeting and function rooms are set to the highest standards following the hotels SOP’s. M&E porters also ensure that all front of house areas and toilets are always clean and tidy , that guests are greeted in a friendly and courteous manner, and that all luggage and personal belongings are handled with care and securely kept.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well on your own and with other team members.
  • Verbal communication skills to interact well with other employees, guests and service providers.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ideally 6 months to 1 year experience in a similar position.

Responsibilities:

  • To arrive for work on time and dressed in full clean uniform.
  • Check function list for day’s business, checking set up’s with Duty Manager.
  • Clean and set up meeting rooms, replenishing and servicing when required, to company standard, operating heating systems as required.
  • Follow cleaning guidelines for Front House areas and toilets, to be checked and signed on regular ongoing basis.
  • Replace all blown bulbs around house outside of maintenance working hours and report all faults immediately.
  • Answer pager at all times.
  • Assist all guests with luggage and personal belongings, greeting in friendly manner.
  • Porters cupboard to be clean and tidy at all times - cleaning equipment and supplies to be maintained safely and securely.
  • Close and open curtains as required, ensure all furniture is in correct position, have extra chairs on busy nights.
  • Attend training sessions, meetings as required.
  • Ensure that all company standards of performance are consistently adhered to.
  • Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Assists reception, housekeeping, and restaurant staff as required.
  • To ensure that all corridors, fire exits, staircases and cupboards are kept clear of obstruction.
  • Ensure full knowledge with all hotel facilities, including opening and closing times and promote these facilities at every opportunity.
