Description:
Hospice Simcoe is looking for a caring, compassionate individual to join our team. Our 10-bed residence gives people who are living with a palliative diagnosis the opportunity to live with dignity and comfort in a place that feels like home. The House Assistant is responsible for performing housekeeping duties and supporting kitchen and reception areas when needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning of Hospice Residence including but not limited to washrooms, floors, garbage, high touch surfaces, common areas, resident suites, and offices
- Complete disinfection of resident suites, as required
- Outdoor maintenance as required (salting entrances, snow clearing)
- Complete and submit custodial checklists
- Reporting any concerns about building maintenance or repairs
- Tracking inventory of cleaning supplies
- Provide support to reception and kitchen volunteers areas during peak business times, when required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed high school diploma,
- Experience working in a healthcare setting, palliative care /Hospice environment preferred
- WHMIS certification
- Ability to be sensitive to residents and their visitors
- Ability to physically perform duties in an efficient manner, operate equipment such as floor scrubber and snowblower
- Strong oral communication skills (proficiency in a second language in addition to English an asset)
- Ability to work Saturday and Sunday shifts (8 am – 12 noon), statutory holidays and occasional coverage during the weekdays
- Be available for pre- planned shifts and short notice requests for coverage
Compensation: $24.59-$27.80 per hour plus 12% in lieu of vacation plus weekend shift premium
