Description:
MANA (Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force) House provides transitional housing for veterans. We provide a foundation for veterans currently or at-risk of experiencing homelessness, providing each one the opportunity to reclaim a life of self-sufficiency.
JOB SUMMARY: Provide third shift coverage of MANA House transitional housing facility serving up to 76 veteran men experiencing homelessness. Ensures smooth and compliant operations of the MANA house, including on-site activities, residents’ behavior, safety and well-being and adherence to policies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Education /Background: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. 6 months of experience working with homeless populations, veterans, substance abuse, mental health preferred. Veteran with Honorable Discharge preferred. Peer Certification preferred.
- Job Knowledge: Current knowledge of best practices for working with people experiencing chronic homelessness, veterans, mental health issues and/or substance abuse. Ability to work with individuals from a diverse background. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).
- Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on floor and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces including stairs and steps. Perform physical tasks that can be repetitive. Must be able to visually and auditory assess and interact with clients to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holiday hours as needed. May lift up to 25 pounds.
- Other requirements:
- Level One Fingerprint clearance or ability to obtain fingerprint clearance; must maintain clearance.
- Must have or complete within 90 days of hire, training in CPR and First Aid and remain current in the certification.
- Possesses or acquires, and maintains, valid Maricopa County Environmental Services Food Service Worker Certificate
Responsibilities:
JOB DUTIES:
- Follow established procedures to assist in check-in and check-out process, coordinating bed assignments, and monitoring compliance with house rules.
- Conduct regular client living area inspections. Inspect cleanliness of the living spaces and inform clients of deficiencies and provide opportunities for life skills education. Ensure compliance with the personal belongings policy and with extermination of the facility.
- Document pertinent shift information and observations.
- Conduct nightly bed check as requested by leadership according to curfew regulations to ensure that all residents are accounted for. Compile data and produce reports, as needed, for analysis, billing, program monitoring and compliance.
- Mediate conflicts and resolve issues as they arise.
- Ensure client compliance with house rules and guidelines.
- Provide crisis intervention and management as needed.
- Comply with and enforce established policies and procedures.
- Follow established procedures in maintaining a safe and clean environment.
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing frequently used areas, including, common and computer areas, sleeping quarters and restroom/ shower facilities. Document activities on posted cleaning schedule.
- Report incidents and concerns during shift to Sr. House Supervisor.
- Collaborate with MANA House staff to assess and address client service needs.
- Build a trusting relationship and gain knowledge of the client’s background and circumstances through frequent and informal conversation.
- Encourage clients to take ownership of case plans and goals.
- Promote and support client-peer counseling efforts.
- Enter relevant information in HMIS system, department logs, and emails on a timely basis.
- Attends and maintains training as required by agency.
- Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
