TE WHIWHINGA MAHI | THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced housekeeper to join our friendly teams based in Pt Chevalier.
Buchanan Rehabilitation Centre (BRC) is a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation service for people aged 18-65 years who are experiencing severe mental illness with high, complex and enduring needs. BRC is an open unit and works with people supporting them to move to more autonomous living in the community.
The Assertive Community Outreach Service (ACOS) is a multi-disciplinary, community-based outreach mental health service located next door to Buchanan Rehabilitation Centre. ACOS provides assertive treatment and support to service users and operates seven days a week.
There are three housekeepers who work across both services Monday to Friday 0700 to 1530 and every third Saturday. These roles are very important in ensuring both services are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness that complies with accepted hospital and clinical standards to ensure to a pleasant, welcoming and comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors. The senior role includes oversight and supervision of the small team as well as responsibility for ordering essential items.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
- A commitment to biculturalism
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- Experience in housekeeping
- Full clean NZ Driver’s License and able to drive both manual and automatic cars and vans
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork
- Proven record of following directions, attention to details and completing tasks
- Understands relevant Heath and Disabilities Services Standards (2008).

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleaning and maintenance of BRC and ACOS contributing to a safe environment which is appropriate for the needs of the clients.
- Identifying maintenance and repairs needed and responding accordingly.
- Adhere to procedures and take all reasonable steps to reduce infections and comply with the service and organisations Infection Control Programme.
- Order breakfast food provisions for the BRC clients who are not self-catering.
