Description:

SALARY: $56,576.00

The Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor supervises the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing long-term care facilities in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledgeable in long-term care or hospital housekeeping practices and procedures including but not limited to various types of floors, cleaning materials, and general housekeeping methods and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, with a collaborative approach to supervision.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in English language communication (reading, writing, speaking, understanding).
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions, listen attentively, communicate clearly, make decisions, and exercise sound judgments.
  • Skilled in handling diverse interactions tactfully with personnel, residents, families, visitors, and the public.
  • Adept at following oral and written directions, meeting deadlines, maintaining confidentiality, organizing and prioritizing work, projecting a professional image, working autonomously while also fostering teamwork, and maintaining composure in difficult situations.
  • Possess the ability to seek out new methods and processes and have a willingness to incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Efficient utilization of computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook skills required. Other Microsoft Office application knowledge, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, moving furniture, bending, lifting 40 pounds regularly throughout the day, and standing for extended periods.
  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to observe and communicate with others.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement daily housekeeping and laundry procedures, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Schedule, evaluate, and adjust work assignments and cleaning schedules based on operational needs and through collaboration with nursing service.
  • Submit accident/incident reports promptly to the administrator or community leader with thorough documentation. Complete administrative requirements by accurately and promptly filling out necessary forms and reports.
  • Implement recommendations from committees such as Infection Control, Safety, and QA to enhance department operations.
  • Interpret and train new personnel on department policies, procedures, and cleaning techniques.
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide constructive feedback, conduct employee counseling, and complete scheduled Check-Ins to foster professional growth.
  • Attend and actively participate in facility in-service training programs, promoting continuous learning and development among staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols during tasks and equipment use, promoting a safe work environment and maintaining fire protection programs as per regulations and Agency policies.
  • Ensure Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) for chemicals are up-to-date, accessible, accurately labeled, and stored correctly. Promptly report hazardous conditions or equipment issues to minimize risks.
  • Perform daily inspections throughout the facility, including residents rooms, to maintain cleanliness and sanitation, taking corrective actions as required. Coordinate isolation procedures with nursing services as needed to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Monitor and optimize housekeeping supplies to reduce waste and uphold cost efficiency. Order equipment and supplies as directed to maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Provide and ensure accessibility of personal protective equipment for all personnel handling infectious materials.
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and stored properly at the end of each shift to prolong lifespan and ensure operational readiness.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
