Housing Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the overall operation of a board & lodge housing facility. They assist in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the house and its rules and policies, while also providing support and guidance to clients.
Key responsibilities for a Board & Lodge Facility Housing Assistant may include:
1. Client Support: Providing support and guidance for program rules and routines as clients continue recovery and move toward independent living.
2. Program Support: Ensuring that client schedules are adhered to and policies followed. Provide support to the House Manager with the facilitation household functions including meal service, chores, checking clients in and out of the House.
3. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation including shift notes and incident reports. Ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards in record-keeping and confidentiality. Document all activity on all shifts.
4. Crisis Intervention: Managing behavior emergencies using protective procedures and de-escalation techniques according to Turning Point policy. Housing Assistants are responsible for completing an incident report and include the shift notes.
5. Administrative Duties: Answering phones, checking emails, maintaining supplies, assigning client chore list and additional duties assigned by the House Manager.
6. Housing Team Support: Communicating with other members of the housing team, including other Housing Assistants, the House Manager, Facilities staff and Director of Administration, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to housing services. Participating in all required staff meetings.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in housing and/or recovery services or related fields is a plus.
- Knowledge of addiction treatment modalities and mental health concepts.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Compassion, empathy, and the ability to provide non-judgmental support to clients.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other software programs.
- Knowledge of ethical and legal standards related to client confidentiality and record-keeping.
- Crisis intervention skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
- Flexibility in working hours, as needed.
Preferred
- Have a valid MN State driver’s license
- Ability to walk up and down stairs
- Trained on CPR and Narcan
- Knowledge in culturally specific treatment services
