Description:

WHO WE ARE:

Canadian Mental Health Association Durham is an integrated community mental health and
primary care hub that has been providing mental health services to Durham Region for over 60
years.
During that time, it has evolved to provide a broad range of services to individuals and their
families experiencing mental health challenges, from information and education to case
management, psychosocial rehabilitation, housing and primary healthcare. These services are
provided through inter-professional teams focused on providing clinically based services that, in
addition to dealing with client mental health issues, address social determinants of health using
the recovery model.
Overview of the role: Oversees the day-to-day housing financial operations in conjunction
with management in Finance and Administrative Services within the Canadian Mental Health
Association Durham (CMHA Durham).

Skills you bring:

  • Post-secondary education (i.e. Accounting) and a minimum of three years related wor

or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and finance principles and functions
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of property housing software such as ACORI and GRASP
  • Experience in not for profit housing sector would be an asset
  • Intermediate proficiency in written and oral French an asse

Responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for all housing financial related inquiries within the organization
  • Responsible for maintaining the structure of the data within the property management

system and troubleshooting system inquiries

  • Participates with management in housing related meetings within the organization
  • Completes and disseminates the monthly housing arrears’ list
  • Responsible for regular audits/reconciliations between the accounting system and

property management system

  • Approves all housing financial transactions
  • Prepares the annual housing budgets and returns
  • Completes and analyses internal and external housing reporting in conjunction with

management

  • Reviews all legal housing documents to ensure accuracy
  • Maintains the prepaid last month’s rent report
  • Participates on all internal housing committees
  • Works with management to implement new initiatives
  • Provides back-up support for accounting functions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by management
