Description:

Broxtowe Borough Council is looking to recruit a Housing Officer to help deliver and improve its Housing Tenancy Service. As a Housing Officer, your role will include daily contact with customers and you will assist them with their housing and tenancy issues.
You will manage tenancies and tenancy issues, and will manage a neighbourhood patch within the Borough. The key focus of the role will be to fully investigate all aspects of anti-social behaviour, working on your patch anti-social behaviour caseload, taking any necessary tenancy action, working with partner agencies, writing warnings, Notices, witness statements and attending court as and when necessary. The focus for the team and the role is to improve the quality of neighbourhoods, to sustain tenancies and to deal effectively with estate issues and issues of anti-social behaviour that may arise.
You will work as part of team of Housing Officers delivering this service. The ability to work as part of a team but also to manage your own caseload is important, particularly as the role involves spending a lot of time working remotely out on your patch within the community. This will entail you being required to undertake reactive visits when necessary to respond to urgent tenancy matters throughout your patch or if necessary within the wider Borough, this will require you to have access to your own transport as these visits will be at short notice and of an urgent nature.
You will need to work closely with other departments and agencies to achieve positive results for customers and to improve neighbourhoods and you will also need to be able to communicate effectively with customers, both verbally and in writing, some of whom will be suffering difficulties because of their personal circumstances. Therefore, an ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences and build relationships is important.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR AN INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS PROVEN EXPERIENCE OF:

  • Working in a housing department or related setting
  • Working with customers
  • Working with vulnerable people
  • Taking tenancy action, issuing tenancy warning, legal warnings, drawing Notices, writing witness statements and attending court.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

· This is a permanent role based at the Council Offices, Beeston, but office and remote working in the Borough is possible and encouraged within the role
· Working hours are 37 hours per week, with business hours Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm
· There will be a requirement to work outside of office hours on occasions and you will need to visit properties and neighbourhoods within the Borough regularly and at short notice
· Training to help you in the role is available
· Travel across the Borough is essential, and mileage will be paid
