Description:

ABOUT YOU

You will be part of a great team so should be a great team player. What matters most is your way with people. A team player with excellent communication skills, you have proven experience of dealing with the public or providing customer service. Your enthusiasm, drive and focus on making a difference for people is exactly what we’re looking for.
While experience in a housing management role and knowledge of tenancy law would be an advantage, neither is essential. We expect you to demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills, and to be literate and numerate to a good standard.

Responsibilities:

As a Housing and Community Officer you can make your own contribution. This is a great opportunity to make a genuine, positive difference to people’s lives and neighbourhood. It’s a very varied job and includes the allocation of houses, dealing with neighbour complaints, providing rent and benefit advice, housing advice, arrears management and a range of other services to assist tenants in sustaining their tenancies and to contribute to the comfort and enjoyment of their homes.

You’ll work with residents and neighbourhood stakeholders on an almost limitless variety of issues. From supporting the welfare of our most vulnerable people, to submitting applications for environmental awards, to enabling major regeneration schemes - and everything in-between - you’ll improve lives and futures in the community. Along the way, you’ll develop skills and experience in everything from time management to legal action. The main duties are:

  • Advise residents on tenancy matters, benefits, and rehousing.
  • Support residents with needs to sustain their homes.
  • Manage voids, lettings, and ensure smooth tenancy transitions.
  • Enforce tenancy agreements, address disputes, and manage arrears.
  • Conduct estate inspections and tenancy audits to maintain high standards.
  • Engage tenants in service delivery and handle complaints effectively.
