Description:

ABOUT YOU

It is vital that the right person can excel working in a fast-paced environment, leading a team in an open and positive way, and help identify innovative ways of working to improve performance and service provision. The ability to think and operate in a strategic manner is critical, recognising issues early and identifying and embedding mitigation or solutions to those issues.
You’ll need to be an excellent manager with an understanding of legislation pursuant to the role, including experience of adhering to Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. You should therefore have a recognised housing qualification, or a proven track record in housing or related profession along with a willingness to undertake a housing qualification should it be required.
The role requires someone who can work under pressure, balance conflicting priorities and use their initiative. A good political awareness is vital, along with excellent ICT skills and confident communication skills
The right person for Fareham will have all these attributes underpinned by a real sense of pride in doing a good job.

ABOUT US

In this new post of Housing Pathways Manager, you will have an exciting opportunity to really make your mark! As a smaller Local Authority social landlord, you will have the opportunity to make a big difference in how we work.
Fareham Housing own and manage over 2,400 homes across the Borough, remaining the largest affordable housing provider in Fareham.
The Council has a reputation for delivering excellent services to our residents, thanks to our loyal and hard-working teams, who all share our pride in the borough.
We are not just transforming our borough, but also transforming ourselves as an organisation. With customers at the heart of what we do, we want to build on the supportive culture within our teams to develop the environment where continuous improvement is sought, enabling individuals to make courageous decisions and embracing new ways of working.
Having adopted systems thinking throughout the organisation, our teams understand what great service is, and strive daily to remain focussed on doing the right thing for our customers.
Fareham Borough Council is a great place to work and you would be joining an organisation that has a real family feel to it. We take pride in receiving feedback from others who say we are a friendly and professional organisation. We aim to attract, develop and retain the very best people.
We offer a great pension scheme, authorised parking, flexible and hybrid working and a car lease scheme to name a few of the benefits of working for us.
If you would like to arrange a informal chat about the position, please email Abi Travers, Head of Housing (Pathways and Neighbourhoods) at atravers@fareham.gov.uk
Interviews are planned for Thursday 7 and Friday 8 November 2024

Responsibilities:

This is an exciting new role overseeing our homelessness service, housing allocations, and Temporary Accommodation provision.
As a pivotal role in our Management Team, you’ll provide effective and supportive leadership to the Housing Options Team Leader, and the Accommodation and Allocations Team Leader, coaching and developing employees to help them perform their duties to their full potential.
A focus for this role is to lead on reviewing our Farelets scheme, engaging with private landlords in the provision of Temporary Accommodation to help alleviate homelessness in the Borough. For this reason we’d welcome applications from candidates with experience with private sector lease management, as well as those with a clear understanding of homelessness legislation.
You will support the Head of Housing (Pathways and Neighbourhoods), and wider Housing Management Team, deputising for the Head of Housing if required. You will also work in partnership with internal departments, external stakeholders, statutory and voluntary agencies to reduce and prevent homelessness in the Borough, and to deliver accommodation solutions and options.
