WHAT YOU BRING

We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences and interests. These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:

  • Diploma and/or Degree in Community Rehabilitation, Disability Studies or a related social science
  • Minimum of (2) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • Well developed and effective communication skills (written and oral)
  • Demonstrated skill in critical thinking
  • Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism aligned with Vecova values
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all Vecova team members
  • Represent Vecova in a professional manner
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Demonstrate a high level of administrative and IT capacity

Responsibilities:

  • Identify behaviors of concern; aid in the development, review, and monitoring of plans to manage behaviours or situations of concern
  • Support individuals in their daily routines and activities such as bathing, meal preparation, shopping, attending medical appointments, medication administration, cleaning and laundry
  • Assist individuals in management of their personal affairs such as banking and budgeting, paying bills, etc.
  • Encourage development of social skills and meaningful relationships
  • Support individuals to know their rights, voice their thoughts and needs, and advocate for the services they require
  • Promote development of social skills and social awareness
  • Keep guardians and family members updated with consumer information regarding daily needs, schedule changes or activities as appropriate
