WHAT YOU BRING
We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences and interests. These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:
- Diploma and/or Degree in Community Rehabilitation, Disability Studies or a related social science
- Minimum of (2) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
- Well developed and effective communication skills (written and oral)
- Demonstrated skill in critical thinking
- Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism aligned with Vecova values
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all Vecova team members
- Represent Vecova in a professional manner
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Demonstrate a high level of administrative and IT capacity
Responsibilities:
- Identify behaviors of concern; aid in the development, review, and monitoring of plans to manage behaviours or situations of concern
- Support individuals in their daily routines and activities such as bathing, meal preparation, shopping, attending medical appointments, medication administration, cleaning and laundry
- Assist individuals in management of their personal affairs such as banking and budgeting, paying bills, etc.
- Encourage development of social skills and meaningful relationships
- Support individuals to know their rights, voice their thoughts and needs, and advocate for the services they require
- Promote development of social skills and social awareness
- Keep guardians and family members updated with consumer information regarding daily needs, schedule changes or activities as appropriate
