Description:

Untether AI is building the world’s highest performance pure-digital AI inference startup. We’re a rapidly growing Toronto-based startup, with employees across Canada and the US (and even a few outside North America), building next generation hardware AI accelerators for neural net inference. We are investing in software in a big way in order to make it as seamless as possible for researchers and developers to successfully deploy neural networks on our hardware.
One of our small - but impressive - team members will be taking a leave and we will miss her. It does however give us the opportunity to bring someone new into our team to provide HR Assistant level support. The aim of this role will be to support the others in the HR team, to work with the larger HR & Operations team to support our current and future employees.
While the description below outlines some of your responsibilities, each of us on the team rolls up our sleeves everyday and pitches in on different projects and activities. No two days will be the same. And, as we continue to build our processes and standard operating procedures, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise and interests with the rest of the team. Your approach to work will show off your attention to detail and your exceptional organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Supporting our Recruiting Activities, including scheduling interviews, engaging with external recruiting partners, writing job descriptions, and partnering with other team members on pre-onboarding and onboarding activities
  • Rolling out, or supporting the roll out of programs and processes across the organization and providing training to employees as required
  • Monitoring and tracking vacation and sick time taken, vacation balances and liability calculation
  • Benefits Administration for employees in both the US and Canada, including new employee enrolment and employee benefit terminations, supporting benefit renewals, and auditing and validating health benefit and other related invoices
  • Co-op student funding applications
  • Supporting general Office Health and Safety
Beyond this, the role will give you exposure to other annual processes and unique one-off processes. Each team member acts as a generalist so the opportunity to learn and be involved in different areas of HR that are of interest to you is high including compensation, performance management, tools implementation, compliance, etc.
This role requires you to be at our office at 20 Toronto Street, Toronto four days a week. The office is close to public transportation and an easy walk from Union Station or the King Street subway station.

THIS ROLE IS A FIXED TERM CONTRACT (UP TO 18 MONTHS). HAVING SAID THAT, WITH OUR EXPECTED GROWTH THERE MAY BE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT.

As our engineering teams grow, the need for our support functions, including HR, to grow with them. This is an excellent opportunity to show your current capabilities and future potential. We believe in promoting our talent first before looking externally.
