Description:

THE PERSON

  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in an HRBP role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized with strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Advanced skills and knowledge of systems and tools (MAC and PC based), including HRIS, Excel, PowerPoint (Canva or similar a plus)
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities:

PlayOn! Sports is looking for a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) who, as an integral part of the people Operations team, will serve as a strategic partner to the business while also providing comprehensive tactical HR support and guidance to specific business units. The HRBP will report to the VP of People Operations and work closely with management and employees to improve engagement, work relationships, build morale, increase productivity, and retain talent.
Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role will include:

Employee Engagement & Connections

  • Provide a sounding board and coaching for team members to navigate challenging work situations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing both broad based engagement strategies, as well as bespoke engagement strategies tailored to specific employee groups (new hires, high potential employees, etc.)

Manager Coaching:

  • Work closely with department managers to implement team-specific actions to achieve quarterly progress on performance and engagement metrics.
  • Provide a sounding board and individualized coaching for managers to navigate challenging people situations.
  • Ensuring manager complete regular and effective 1:1s with team members

Culture & Ethics:

  • Act as a role model and steward of our culture and employee value proposition, ensuring it is effectively communicated and realized across the organization.
  • Support adherence to ethical, legal, and organizational guidelines related to people operations.

KPIs:

  • Overall employee engagement.
  • Retention of core/top performers and raising the average of bottom performers.
  • Increasing Leader effectiveness.
