The HR Business Partner provides comprehensive support throughout primarily in employee relations and other related human resource activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing guidance and support to client group to effectively address employee relations issues while maintaining appropriate balance between employee advocacy and responsibility to act as a steward of the business.
  • Coaching managers in resolving performance issues and keeping management apprised of issues and trends.
  • Handling incident investigations and counseling employees and managers on employee relations issues, employment law compliance and other employment matters.
  • Providing guidance and recommendations in disciplinary/corrective action and performance improvement plans.
  • Maintaining appropriate records and reports in compliance with external regulations.
  • Presenting on a variety of HR topics for new hire orientation, supervisor training and other trainings.
  • Critically evaluating employee discipline matters, recommending termination when warranted and facilitating termination process.
  • Providing manager guidance and assistance in administering company policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Interpreting company policy and providing consultative support and counsel to all employees to ensure clear communication and understanding.
  • Collaborating with compensation group to offer compensation recommendation and work with hiring manager to ensure effective delivery of merit increases and/or compensation adjustments due to promotions, lateral moves, or re-organizational changes.
  • Preparing and processing employment records to include all records that affect any employee change.
  • Staying informed of federal and state developments and employment laws and general employee practices.
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with assigned client group and the HR staff.
  • Providing assistance with special projects as assigned or other duties as assigned or required.
  • Partnering with client group to provide guidance and assistance with employee transfers, promotions, terminations or other employment actions.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with other parts of HR and other company groups.
  • Coordinating with benefits group to administer requests for employee leave of absence.
  • Completing administrative duties and other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources with a strong focus on employee relations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business, or related field or 10 years’ experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience and comfort in consulting with managers; ability to provide candid and direct feedback.
  • Experience presenting to groups in a workplace setting.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
  • Ability to remain flexible and shift priorities quickly.
  • Ability to deliver results while working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Customer-service focus; ability to interact professionally in a helpful, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
