Are you passionate about HR and looking for an exciting opportunity to grow your skills? We’re hiring an exceptional HR Coordinator co-op for an 8-month term at our beautiful Pitt Meadows office, nestled near scenic walking and biking trails.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Approachable and proactive.
  • Stong attention to detail, organization and planning with great analytical and problems solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience with HRIS systems is a plus (BambooHR is a bonus).
  • A self-starter and independent but knows how to take direction or ask for help.
  • Knowledge of HR processes and best practices.
  • Previous co-op experience preferred.
  • Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision and coordinate several tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • This is a hybrid position; you will be expected to be in the office three times a week.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Reporting to the VP of People, Culture, and Compliance, the HR Coordinator co-op will have the opportunity to develop and practice skills in every aspect of the employee experience function. You’ll assist with day-to-day tasks, including planning, implementing, and maintaining HR and office functions. With a customer-focused mindset, you’ll drive seamless HR operations and enhance employee engagement. You’re ready to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, and get the work done!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • HR Operations
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of our internal human resources department.
  • Provide administrative support for employee lifecycle processes (benefits, leaves, onboarding & offboarding, handbook updates).
  • Review and identify deficiencies within goals, metrics, and scorecards (MGS), and follow up with managers.
  • Help with compliance-related tasks, such as policy documentation and enforcement.
  • Provide HR reports and information as required.
  • Employee Engagement and Events
  • Foster purpose-aligned employee experiences through proactive event planning (town halls, wins of the month, lunch & learns, All-Hands, celebrations, etc.) and committee participation.
  • Contribute to HR & cultural initiatives including reward & recognition programs, Great Place To Work certification, employer branding, and communications to increase employee engagement and morale.
  • Support exceptional new hire experiences and continuous improvement of onboarding processes.
  • Manage company SWAG and awards programs.
  • Talent Acquisition
  • Create and modify job descriptions, advertise via ATS, outreach to universities, job boards, and social media.
  • Work closely with hiring managers, coordinate interviews, and gather feedback.
  • Health, Safety, and Wellbeing
  • Support employee health, safety, and wellbeing by being part of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC), developing employee communications, delivering training, and assisting with corrective actions.
  • Facilities Management
  • Help to maintain office facilities and equipment and contact IT when necessary.
  • Liaise with building management, office neighbors, and vendors regarding maintenance issues as needed.
  • Coordinate facilities-related tasks.
  • Visitor Coordination
  • Act as the main point of contact for all visitors, making guests at WISI feel welcome when they arrive.
  • Grant Applications and HR Projects
  • Assist with potential co-op, employment, or training grant applications.
  • Assist with various HR projects and initiatives as needed.
