ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Alken-Maes is seeking an experienced HR Director to lead the People function in Belgium. The HR Director will report directly to the Managing Director and functionally to the European HR Director. This role offers the unique opportunity to further shape the People strategy and contribute to the long-term success of a dynamic organization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of experience in a broad HR role, combining hard and soft HR domains, ideally within a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong business acumen combined with an entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindset.
  • Courageous, future-oriented, and capable of driving fast and agile decision-making.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, coaching, and listening skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Expertise in building and managing relationships with industrial labor stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of Belgian social legislation.
  • Fluent in Dutch, French, and English.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as strategic and trusted business partner to the Managing Director and Senior Leaders.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategy and annual planning by defining the people, organizational & safety priorities that enable us to win.
  • Optimize the organization behind the strategic priorities to leverage efficiencies and productivity gain.
  • Build further on our constructive relationships with Unions/Works Council.
  • Strengthen the company’s critical functional capabilities and help build a strong leadership pipeline for the future.
  • Build a culture obsessed with customer focus, collaborating, continuous learning and inclusion.
  • Be closely connected with the European HR agenda & network to ensure fast scaling of best practices and standards.
  • Ensure further upskilling of HR & HSE capabilities within the team, showcasing excellent people management skills.
  • Be the key driver of our exciting upcoming HQ office move, acting as strategic coordinator.
  • Ensure compliance with Belgian labour law and company policies and procedures.
