The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is a nationally recognized and award-winning agency providing land use planning; stewardship of natural, cultural and historic resources; and delivery of recreation programs to the communities it serves. We are looking for a dynamic and organized HR Diversity & Talent Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong administrative and data management skills, capable of taking initiative and open to learning new things.
This role involves updating and reviewing data in various HRIS systems, conducting research to identify potential talent pipelines, planning and attending job fairs, reviewing and processing telework applications, preparing salary comparisons, performing general administrative tasks, and participating in leadership update meetings.
The M-NCPPC offers a competitive salary range of $16 - $21 per hour based on years of experience and/or education. This is a part-time seasonal position, and the selected candidate will be able to work 37.5 hours per week. EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in an administrative preferred.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and data management skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- High school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in administrative support and clerical work or customer service that typically involves performance of a range of general office support functions.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 4 years.
Responsibilities:
- Data Management:
- Review and update records in HRIS system and NeoGov daily to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Maintain and organize recruitment data and reports.
- Research and Outreach:
- Conduct research on trade schools and other educational institutions to identify potential talent pipelines.
- Assist in building relationships with trade school, associations and other educational institutions.
- Job Fair Planning and Attendance:
- Plan and coordinate logistics for job fairs and recruitment events.
- Attend job fairs to represent PG Parks & Recreation to attract potential candidates.
- Telework Application Processing:
- Review and process telework applications in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication with applicants regarding their telework status.
- Salary Comparisons:
- Prepare salary comparisons for review and ensure competitive and fair compensation for potential hires.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the PFM Diversity and Talent Management Specialist, including processing fingerprinting requests, managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, and regularly following up on the status of recruitment documents. Ensure effective communication by navigating proper channels and obtaining necessary information from the relevant individuals or divisions.
- Review the recommendation for hire packets for accuracy and all required documents, proofread job descriptions to ensure thoroughness and accuracy in preparation for posting
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement recruitment strategies.
- Daily update any applicable recruitment database and reports (recruitment tracker (AirTable), with consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.
