GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The HR Generalist and Employee Experience Coordinator is a key contributor to the universitys HR and employee engagement strategies. The incumbent is responsible for administering and coordinating diverse HR-related processes and an array of tasks including customer service functions as the HR first point of contact for faculty, staff, and student workers. The HR Generalist and Employee Experience Coordinator is responsible for ensuring HR processes, tasks and interactions meet faculty, staff, and student needs, and comply with legal requirements. The incumbent stays informed of new employee employment laws, regulations, and trends. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of comparable experience.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • HRIS software experience preferred (Paycom).
  • Fluent Spanish (read, write, speak) preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates day-to-day administration and communication of HR policies, processes, and programs.
  • Act as the first point of contact and provide customer service functions to faculty, staff, and student workers by answering questions and handling requests.
  • Supports HR communication and self-service on the website, in the HRIS, and in person.
  • Supports general HR compliance-related reporting and communication to meet all federal, state, and local regulations that control or impact HR policies, processes, and programs.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and maintains full life-cycle recruitment activities including job requisitions, postings, candidate interface, and interview coordination, and track the status of candidates in the HRIS; ensures EDIA best practices are implemented throughout recruitment steps.
  • Supports processing of employment actions; assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
  • Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verifications including I-9s and EADs.
  • Handles externally generated unemployment requests.
  • Provides and handles onboarding processes both in-person and in the HRIS system for faculty, staff, and student workers.
  • Supports HR-related audits including pre- and post-reports, preparations, implementation, and debriefing activities.
  • Conducts new employee orientation; ensures new hire completion of onboarding training requirements; provides education regarding policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Provides and handles offboarding processes both in-person and in the HRIS system for faculty, staff, and student workers.
  • Administers the performance review process for staff including updates in the HRIS system.
  • Ensures position descriptions are current, accurate, and correctly formatted; reviews the status of the position description library in HRIS and regularly updates the system.
  • Coordinates and maintains HR and employee records; coordinates the record retention process.
  • Coordinates educational resources and training opportunities including required onboarding and annual training.
  • Co-designs, delivers, and reviews student supervisor training.
  • Collaborates with HRIS Analyst and Administrator to ensure Paycom is functioning to meet the Universitys requirements and business needs. Actively assists in testing new features and preparative work leading to Paycom system updates.
  • Develops, prepares, generates, and analyzes ongoing and special reports.
  • Participates in Paycom software system maintenance, issue identification, and resolution as it relates to HR and legal requirements.
  • Reconciles HR, benefits, vendor, and legal invoices; monitors and reviews invoices for payment processing.
  • Supports university policy review, revision, and adherence including handbooks.
  • Monitors and analyzes changes to local, state, and federal HR-related leave legislation; proposes and implements changes to internal policies.
  • Supports the HR team leaders with daily and project activities and assignments.
