Description:
Position Overview:
We are seeking an HR Generalist to join our dynamic team in Brooklyn, New York. The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting the Human Resources department by ensuring compliance with NY labor laws, handling employee relations, and providing excellent customer service to all employees. This role requires a strong understanding of HR functions, including benefits administration, FMLA, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting investigations, managing reports, and creating an employee engagement events calendar.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a Human Resources role.
- Knowledge of NY labor laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Experience with FMLA administration and employee benefits management.
- Experience with Paycom or similar HRIS is a plus.
- OPWDD experience is a plus.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong understanding of HR functions and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
Responsibilities:
Compliance & Legal:
- Ensure company compliance with NY labor laws and regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with FMLA and other relevant employment laws.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and updating company policies and procedures.
- Collaborating with the recruitment team on new hire compliance is completed
HR Functions:
- Provide basic HR support and answer employee inquiries regarding benefits, policies, and procedures.
- Assisting with administering employee benefits programs
- Assist in the onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Utilize HRIS (preferably Paycom) to manage employee data and track HR activities.
Employee Relations:
- Handle employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and resolving conflicts.
- Serve as a resource for employees, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
- Work closely with management to address and resolve employee concerns.
Employee Engagement:
- Develop and manage an employee engagement events calendar to foster a positive work environment.
- Coordinate and participate in employee events and initiatives.
Other Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service to employees and management.
- Assist in special projects and initiatives as needed.
