Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Ohio, an Affiliate of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, empowers the young people who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens by providing high-quality and impactful out-of-school time programming for youth in grades K-12. BGCCO serves 4,000 youth per year throughout Central Ohio.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Ohio is seeking a Human Resource professional to join our team as an HR Generalist. This role is a hybrid position, the on-site work location will be located at 1000 Cleveland Ave. (Milo-Grogan Clubhouse).

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Generalist works under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager and is responsible for the administration of key human resources functions. This includes employee recruitment, screening, onboarding, payroll support; serving as support for benefits administration; resolving employee relations issues and providing advice and counsel; interpreting human resources policies and laws, compliance and training. Assists with monitoring the full range of employee programs throughout the organization and ensures uniformity of services in all locations. The position will focus on full cycle recruiting, on boarding, benefits, employee engagement, and recognition programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Human Resources Certification - SHRM-CP® or PHR® or equivalent preferred.
  • 3 + years of HR experience, with direct talent acquisition/recruiting and employee relations responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of legally compliant interviewing and hiring best practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems and software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; as well as staffing tools such as: applicant tracking software, HRIS systems, electronic job boards, social media and candidate sourcing applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office products.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents, and community leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and other external sources in a professional manner

Responsibilities:

Full Cycle Recruiting

  • Recruit, interview and facilitate the hiring of qualified job candidates for open positions.
  • Responsible for Human Resources Generalist function including conducting new employee orientation meetings and answering questions regarding Human Resource policies, procedures, and benefit programs.
  • In collaboration with hiring managers work to understand job requirements and help to facilitate recruitment strategies. Coordinate and schedule interviews, facilitate feedback and manage the end-to-end recruitment process. Manage sourcing methods such as LinkedIn, Handshake, Glassdoor, Indeed, other job boards, professional associations. Maintain and update applicant tracking systems (ATS). Assists with other recruitment tasks as needed.
  • University/College Partnerships- coordinate and attend college career fairs and other recruiting events. Build and maintain relationships with universities and student industry organizations. Manage the Student Intern program.
  • Track recruitment metrics and generate reports to measure the effectiveness of hiring practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, recruitment tools and best practices.
  • Promote the company’s employer brand to attract top talent.

Compliance

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • In partnership with programs, coordinate and maintain compliance and tracking of new hire education and online-learning, monitor certifications, licenses (e.g. CPR, MVR, Driver’s license) and renewal deadlines, manage a number of safety databases to maintain compliance.
  • Work with the HR Manager and update the company handbook and policies as needed.

Employee Relations

  • Provide understanding policy and procedures, such as corrective action measures and appropriate corresponding documentation (e.g. attendance, performance management).
  • Under the guidance of the HR Manager, partner with managers and employees to investigate and resolve employee relations issues.

Employee Engagement/Recognition

  • Utilizing Survey Monkey manages all employee engagement surveys (e.g. annual surveys, 30-60-90 days)
  • Oversee all current employee recognition programs, collaborate cross functionally to plan employee recognition celebrations, and make recommendations for engagement strategies across the organization.
  • Oversee Employee Resources Groups (ERG).
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Acts as a resource for various HR special projects within or across business units or with corporate HR
  • Maintains confidential employee data or files.
  • Help develop and manage standard levels of service and processes across areas of responsibility
