Description:

The Position: Reporting to the Chief HR Officer, assists in the development and administration of “best in class” human resources programs to attract, retain, and develop the highest caliber employees. Advise and assist management and employees on employee issues and concerns through communicating, interpreting and recommending appropriate use of human resource policies and procedures, services and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS degree in business, human resources management or related field.
A PHR, SHRM CP, or SHRM SCP preferred
5+ years of previous experience in a generalist human resources role in a complex organization
Healthcare experience a plus
Experience with US and California employment laws and regulations
Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with managers and staff. Strong facilitation and coaching skills.
Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills.
Knowledge and understanding of human resources theory and practices. Ability to apply concepts to actual situations in a practical manner and to guide managers and staff accordingly.
Advanced Microsoft Office Suite Skills, working knowledge of HRIS systems, prefer experience with ADP Workforce and ADP payroll systems.
Ability to develop effective processes and protocols and to maintain accurate documentation and records.
Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs day-to-day operations within the human resources department to ensure actions are carried out in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains all documents, records and files in good order. Develops effective and efficient procedures and maintains data and statistics as needed to support or enhance operations.
Assists with problem resolution, conflict management, performance management, corrective action, performance improvement plans, grievance procedures, fact-finding and investigations.
Facilitates continuous process improvement. Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of human resources programs, policies, and procedures. Researches trends and best practices and develops recommendations. Monitors programs and policies; identifies opportunities for improvement and initiates appropriate enhancements and/or corrections.
Maintains professional skills and awareness of regulatory changes, compliance issues, innovations and developments, through research and training/continuing education opportunities. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state and local laws. Stays abreast of trends and best practices.
Administers compensation programs, which includes providing guidance and education on policies and procedures, performing job analysis, developing and maintaining job descriptions, conducting market and internal equity reviews, developing recommendations and implementing wage adjustments. Investigates and responds to unemployment claims.
On an ongoing basis, assesses the pulse of the organization to identify opportunities for increased employee engagement and alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Recommends actions to effect positive change and implements as appropriate. Assessment may be accomplished through observation, interfacing with leaders and managers, reviewing analytics and key performance indicators, coaching and counseling and performing exit interviews.
Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
