Position Overview:
The HR Generalist will play a critical role in supporting the HR function at FairWind by providing a variety of administrative and support services with an emphasis on payroll, onboarding, and benefit administration. You will provide support to employees and managers, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures while participating in employee engagement and development initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle day-to-day HR activities such as benefits administration, payroll preparation and processing, professional development program administration, maintaining employee records, tracking PTO, and managing personnel files.

Payroll Administration:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees
  • Assist in the processing of employees’ advances
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Handle payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Oversee apprentice program and prevailing wage payroll requirements

Benefits Administration:

  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks
  • Participate in the benefits renewal process and assist with open enrollment
  • Conduct employee benefit meetings and assist with open enrollment processes
  • Assist with workers comp claims

Employee Relations:

  • Assist in resolving employee questions, issues, and conflicts
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and implement employee recognition programs

HR Functions:

  • Support recruitment team with onboarding paperwork and first-day itinerary
  • Manage the onboarding process with focus on a positive new hire experience
  • Setup accounts, Meercat, zExpenses, DocuSign etc.
  • Request for equipment (laptop, phones, monitors) for new hires.
  • Update HRIS (Paylocity) with salary changes, title updates, and demographic information
  • Coordinate offboarding process for exiting employees.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the HR Business Partner and HR department as needed
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in HR and payroll administration
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, preferably Paylocity
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
