Description:
Overview:
The Human Resources Generalist will embody the corporate strategic goals and vision while providing the customer with exceptional service. This role must be able to contribute to the team actively, while encouraging participation from team members. To be successful, the Human Resources Generalist must be open to new ideas or thought processes. This role must be able to effectively listen to understand issues, as well as be assertive.
Responsibilities:
- Employee relations’ support for assigned client group
- Lead and assist as necessary in investigation of and proper disposition of associate concerns
- Support efforts to ensure compensation and payroll activities are facilitated effectively
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Manages employment- related inquiries from applicants, employees, and leaders, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices, review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Address employee issues through appropriate interpretation and administration of company policies.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Fully utilize HRIS systems and drive implementation of self-service programs and initiatives enabling employees to become more self-sufficient.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant HR experience in manufacturing environment
- Labor relations (union experience) preferred.
- SHRM-CP a plus.
- Resourceful mindset and strong attention to detail
- Skilled using computer applications including MS Office and Internet.
- Understand the processes and operation of the plant, including customer expectations.
- Is a role model for Safety and 5S
- Adaptable to change and flexible.
- Anticipates and follows through on individual employee needs.
- Able to maintain compliance with all State and Federal regulations.
- Cooperation/Initiative – ability to display a cooperative attitude, collaborate with work teams, and display a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
- Able to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent judgement and problem-solving skills
- Strong decision-making skills.
- A strong understanding of best practices and current regulations specific to HR.
- Position contingent on passing all applicable fit for duty requirements.
- Maybe required to climb, bend or squat on occasion.
- Must regularly lift and/or move 20-35 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
