QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/JOB REQUIREMENTS (ABOUT YOU):
- 2+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources
- CPHR or equivalent is an asset
- Knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Local laws and regulations.
- Expert with MS Office Suite, HRIS programs, recruitment platforms and social media.

Responsibilities:
ROLE:
The purpose of this job is to provide consistent employee relations support that fosters positive associate relations to create an environment where individuals and teams can thrive and deliver high performance.
The Human Resources Generalist works collaboratively with leadership to execute aligned local, regional and corporate human resources programs and initiatives successfully within the location.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides expertise in all functional areas of Human Resources with emphasis on employee relations.
- Acts as a business partner to supervisors and managers on human resource and employee relations matters, supporting and coaching as needed to ensure compliance and consistency.
- Leverages HR knowledge and experience to identify best practices, deliver innovative enhancements to current programs, and seek efficiencies and improvements that add value and align with Sysco strategies. Responds to associate inquiries as per internal customer service guidelines.
- According to circumstances, provides guidance and recommendations for problem resolution, redirecting or escalating as appropriate.
- Participated with Talent Acquisition in the recruitment and selection process, ensuring Sysco Canada’s process, policies and all applicable legislation is followed consistently. Works with key stakeholders, using internal and external resources (when applicable) to fulfill workforce staffing plans ensuring completion of required documentation, e.g. hiring authorizations, application forms, offer letters, etc.
- Conducts (or co-facilitates) new hire orientation to ensure successful onboarding of all new hires. Communicates policies. Follows up to ensure a successful onboarding of every new hire.
- Provides coaching to management regarding reinforcing goals and/or any issues related to employee performance, productivity or behavior based on established policy, practice and/or contract. Reviews documentation and prepares letters of discipline when required, supporting the process to ensure positive outcomes.
- Supports short-term and long-term disability processes as applicable, liaising with benefits carrier when required.
- As guided by the VP, Human Resources, supports annual performance management process (goal setting, coaching, etc.) and assists with tracking and reporting as required. Ensures information is accurate and provides training and technical support to end users.
- Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of HRIS data submitted
- Activate the power of our people by executing and participating in employee engagement activities
- Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
- Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
- Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
