Description:
JOB SUMMARY
Acting as the expert for all Employment Law related matters within NHSBT, embedded within the HR team but supporting all parts of the organisation. You will play an integral role in supporting our people to save and improve more lives.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
- Comprehensive knowledge of current employment legislation.
- Previous experience in a busy HR function in either public or private sectors.
- Experience of dealing with Employee Relations issues in a unionised environment i.e. investigations into disciplinary cases, staff grievances etc.to advice on complex HR issues.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of computer packages, including word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
- Possesses contractual knowledge and experience in devising contractual arrangements.
- Previous experience of presenting training courses on HR related topics and the ability to produce HR training packages.
- Experience of developing HR policies and procedures.
- Recent HR Operations Experience.
QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
- Masters’ degree in employment law or related topic.
- Significant demonstrable post-qualification experience.
- Willingness and ability to undertake travel and spend time away from base to meet the requirements of the post (with appropriate prior notice).
- Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)

Responsibilities:
In this role you will be a senior member of the Pay, Reward and Employee Relations team. Your responsibilities will include:
- To be the expert point of contact for all Employment Law related matters within NHSBT at all levels within the organisation.
- To plan and manage all aspects of claims against NHSBT in Employment Tribunals
- Ensure that all colleagues involved in cases have and maintain the relevant skills by providing regular updates, training and coaching where appropriate. This will include updating on legislation when applicable to ensure that NHSBT remains compliant.
- In conjunction with company appointed solicitors, assess and determine strategy to defend Employment Tribunal claims lodged against NHSBT to achieve best possible outcome.
- To ensure costs analysis are maintained for each case, ensuring detailed invoices from solicitors are correct and paid, raising any concerns promptly.
- Deliver comprehensive Settlement Agreements ensuring the organisation is protected from litigation.
- Ensure third party subrogated claims are handled efficiently recovering funds appropriately
- You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice
