Description:

Established Philadelphia Nonprofit seeks an experienced HR Manager
KenCCID is an established Philadelphia leader that provides residential based supports to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. We seek an experienced, self-starter to lead our Human Resources function including recruiting, employee relations, and benefits. The ideal candidate for this position has excellent leadership, time management, organizational and communication skills, pays close attention to detail, and has a comprehensive understanding of federal labor laws and how to apply them in the workplace.

This position requires an individual with experience in:

  • Ensuring the observation of employees’ rights under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the National Labor Relations Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act and other applicable laws.
  • Navigating a new regulatory landscape if no previous experience working for a Pennsylvania human services organization.
  • Handling employee complaints and protected activity; conducting internal employee investigations.
  • Change management including development of internal metrics and driving desired workforce culture through messaging, policy development and enforcement, and employee incentive and recognition programs.
  • Responding to unemployment compensation claims, including appearing at unemployment hearings to advocate for the employer’s interests.
  • Talent management, including developing compensation programs, job descriptions, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensuring uniform application of policies and discipline, including the provision of internal support and guidance to front-line supervisors, drafting disciplinary documents and tracking consistency of disciplinary enforcement.
  • Providing HR support to a unionized workforce a plus.
  • Providing HR support to a diverse employee base including the ability to navigate foreign cultural norms and communication styles to ensure effective communication of policies and procedures and successful conflict resolution strategies.
  • Prior experience in developing or implementing DEI initiatives a plus.
  • Accomplishing organizational goals with minimal supervision.
  • Cross training on other HR functions.
  • Leading and developing a Human Resources team, including providing supervision, oversight coaching and guidance a plus.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an HR Generalist and/or in a senior HR position with at least two years’ experience in labor law compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills with proficiency in English.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, ADP, and the ability to learn and use new software applications, including Electronic Health Record applications, and payroll applications.
  • Can effectively manage time, tasks, and priorities to ensure all employees’ rights are observed as required.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic, busy and sometimes unpredictable environment.
  • Public speaking skills for internal training.
  • Detail-oriented, strong analytical skills, and the ability to independently research information.
  • This is not a remote or hybrid position and the successful candidate must be able to work in person at KenCCID’s northeast Philadelphia office on a full-time basis and be able to commute to other KenCCID sites in Philadelphia during the workday as required.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sits at a desk during the workday for up to eight hours.
  • Must be able to read a computer screen for up to eight hours a day.
  • Must be able to enter data into a computer system.
  • Must be able to speak clearly to employees about employee relations matters or when providing training.
  • Must be able to handle and negotiate conflict and other stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to drive a car.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
  • Focus on and retain information.
  • Comfortable working in a diverse environment and interacting with individuals with mental or intellectual disabilities.
