Description:

We are looking for a HR Manager to join Lisa Angel with a strong focus on supporting and engaging managers and staff to drive the best performance.
Lisa Angel is a growing gifting business based in Norwich with a strong online presence through lisaangel.co.uk as well as notonthehighstreet.co.uk As well as online Lisa Angel has 4 retail outlets, 2 in Norwich plus stores in Southwold and Bury St Edmunds and we are looking to expand our retail stores further in 2025. The majority of staff are based in Rackheath, where this role will be located, this role will be responsible for all staff across the business.

ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS

  • Previous Senior HR Advisor or HR Manager experience (this role could be a first step into a HR Manager role for a Senior HR Advisor)
  • Comfortable working in a small HR function
  • Good people skills
  • Excellent understanding of Employment Law
  • At least Level 5 CIPD Qualified, ideally Level 7
  • Ability to lead and support Managers
  • Highly organised and able to multi-task
  • Sensitivity in handling confidential issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    The minimum hours for this role would be 28 hours up to full time.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW

The HR Manager is responsible for bringing together the processes to support managers and supervisors to manage and support all staff throughout the business. This includes recruitment, selection, retention, employee engagement, learning and development, payroll, rewards, benefits and organisational development as well as the termination of staff. This role is to enable the Company and its people develop and grow.
This is an ideal role for an experienced HR Manager or a Senior HR Advisor looking to take the next step in their career to Manager.
Reports to: Managing Director. The HR Manager role will form part of the Senior Management Team for Lisa Angel.
Direct Reports: Part time HR Administrator

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Day to day support of managers and supervisors with employee relations issues including dispute solutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence and redundancy.
  • Collaborating with other managers in the business to ensure the smooth running of the company from a people perspective.
  • Attend and/or support managers with performance management of staff, disciplinaries, grievances, absence management meetings and redundancies.
  • Track absence management and report any concerns to managers.
  • Advise managers on the terms and conditions of employment and knowledge share best practice with them.
  • Support learning and development throughout the business.
  • Manage correspondence with the third-party payroll provider and oversee the processing of the monthly payroll by the HR Administrator to ensure accuracy with payroll and payroll records.
  • Manage, delegate and develop the HR Administrator to support with the processing of HR documentation and processes.
  • Support the recruitment process; writing job descriptions, advertising roles on various platforms, liaising with recruitment agencies (if applicable), preparing interview questions, support new starter inductions, create job offers, contracts prior to the employee starting and send new starter information to the Payroll provider for the monthly payroll.
  • Maintaining employee records on Rotacloud and HR system.
  • Record monthly HR KPI’s such as absence rates, staff turnover, FTE data, staffing hours vs previous years/budget and payroll stats as well as ensuring probationary reviews are completed on time and provide support to Managers where needed.
  • Support the coordination of the Company newsletter with the Marketing department.
  • Work closely with Managers to align strategies and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Continuously monitor, review and update HR policies and processes (including the review of systems and practices in place) and implement changes where necessary and in line with employment legislation.
  • Participate in the implementation of specific projects, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the organisation.
  • Provide in-house training and guidance to managers and supervisors on HR policies and employment law updates.
  • Manage the annual performance review process (linked to quarterly reviews), explore any training needs as well as preparing for the annual pay reviews with the Directors.
  • Ensure employee training requirements are well managed and monitored. Liaise with external training providers. Coach, mentors and support colleagues to identify individual strengths and development needs.
  • Prepare and manage the HR, training and payroll budgets each year, monitor these budgets throughout the year and investigation any variances to budget. Payroll budgets will be prepared, discussed and agreed with department Managers prior to being set each year. Ensure budgets are in line with the targets set for the business.
  • Complete and collate staff engagement and improvement surveys annually as well as gathering staff feedback on the implementation or changes to any processes, procedures, schemes as appropriate. Continuously improve staff engagement and welfare opportunities.
  • Support change management processes.
  • Conducting exit interviews and processing leavers.
  • Support Company events such as Company briefings, events as well as managing the Company’s schemes such as the LA Happiness Fund, LA Hero scheme, Long Service Awards and Health & Wellbeing programme (inc. Retail Trust external relationship and internal Mental Health First Aiders)
  • Demonstrate the Company’s values to strengthen the organisational culture.
  • Handling highly confidential information in an honest and trustworthy way.
