Description:

Tarkett is seeking a Human Resources Manager for their unionized manufacturing facility in Farnham, Quebec. This position will be reporting to the Sr. Director, Human Resources and dotted line to the Operations/Site Director. This individual will execute HR strategy across multiple functional areas within the HR department including talent and performance management, recruiting, employee and labor relations, training and development, benefits, regulatory compliance and HR reporting and analytics.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage and execute human resources strategies in all HR functional areas, programs and practices such as talent management, staffing, on-boarding, succession planning, employee and labor relations, performance management, organization effectiveness, training and development and HR policies.
  • Lead the People Development Pillar within the WCM environment, plan and organize all type of training programs for all level of employees, maintain local KPI and support local leaders to develop their employees.
  • Responsible for coordinating the collective agreement negotiation, for supporting management in the interpretation of the collective agreement, ensuring company actions are aligned and manage responding to requests, grievances, etc.
  • Partner with plant leaders and employees to enhance business results by enabling a positive culture and driving increased level of employee engagement.
  • Ensure efforts are synchronized with corporate HR initiatives.
  • Manage all benefits programs (group insurance and pension plan), negotiate with broker and insurance company, search cost effectiveness and lead the pension committee.
  • Influence change and innovation to advance plant strategies and operations. Work closely with the leadership team to deliver solutions that meet business needs and drive and change initiatives to improve performance.
  • Lead the plant talent management initiatives, working with the plant leadership team, including employee assessment, development, organization effectiveness, and succession planning. Prepare necessary materials for regional talent review calibration meetings.
  • Lead and participate in full cycle recruitment efforts including attracting and assessing candidate capabilities, work productively with outside search partners, candidates, and internal clients; and assist in managing new hire orientation.
  • Maintain compliance with the Salary Equity legislation and with “l’Office de la Langue Française”.
  • Drive employee engagement efforts through execution of bi-annual employee feedback survey and monthly Pulse Survey, analysis of results, and development and exaction of engagement strategy.
  • Manage employee relations and assist in counseling employees and conducting exit interviews.
  • Measure and drive improvement of key HR metrics/scorecard by running reports, analyzing data, and providing recommendations to HR and Plant leadership to enable strong business decisions.
  • Cross-train with other HR/Payroll colleagues to ensure back up and coverage exits across the function including understanding schedules and timekeeping system and preparing payroll documents when needed.
  • Support the Canadian sales management and team across Canada.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial regulations concerning employment and labor relations.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations or Human Resources plus five (5) to seven (7) years of Human Resources experience including a minimum of three (3) years in an unionized manufacturing environment required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write and speak French and English fluently.
  • To be a hands-on person, work on the shop floor with the management team and make things happen.
  • Act as a change agent and question the local processes to improve effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of a continuous improvement program like WCM would be an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Knowledge of Workday would be preferred.
  • The ability to build strong relationships and establish strong interpersonal connections.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Recognized as a well-organized and autonomous person and has the ability to be a great team player.
  • To be an enthusiastic, performance-driving individual who will pursue excellence in translating the employer brand passion, vision/mission of the organization into operational, quantitative Human Resources plans, goals, and schedules for improvement.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, provincial and local employment laws and regulations and also of the Quebec industrial culture.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • The ability to travel occasionally, domestically or internationally.
