POSITION OVERVIEW

The YMCA of Honolulu is seeking an experienced HR operations professional with a strong background in human resources and a proven track record of successfully managing HR teams. This role is uniquely tailored for an operational leader who not only thrives on enhancing HR functions and leading transformative projects but also actively engages in hands-on tasks alongside their team. As a strategic overseer and active participant in our HR operations, the successful candidate will be intimately involved in refining processes, systems, and policies to meet the dynamic needs of our organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, including significant time spent in operational roles managing and improving HR functions.
  • 1-3+ years in a leadership role with direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and strategic thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to handle complex operational details and lead major HR initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to advocate for HR needs and build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated compassion and a customer-service orientation, with a collaborative and action-oriented approach to leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and enhance operational HR functions across benefits administration, compensation, employee relations, HRIS, and compliance, ensuring all are aligned with strategic organizational goals.
  • Lead a team of HR professionals, promoting a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and exceptional service delivery.
  • Spearhead the simplification of HR processes, from onboarding and benefits design to HRIS automation and employee clearance, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop robust people analytics frameworks to measure HR effectiveness and inform strategic decision-making.
