Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator is responsible for assisting with tasks throughout all areas of the HR department. This position will have an active role in processing payroll which includes entering timesheets, updating payroll and employee records, and answering employee questions regarding pay.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Three years experience in Human Resources with payroll processing highly preferred; but not required.
- Experience in a construction environment preferred.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
- Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures.
- Ability to read, write, and accurately perform basic mathematical functions including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.
- Ability to analyze issues independently.
- Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess knowledge of Company policies and procedures, including safety.
- Must consistently produce and efficient, accurate work product.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years in age or older.
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must pass post-offer employment drug testing, medical exams, and physical agilities testing.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and/or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS)
- Assist with guiding employees through various human resource processes.
- Conduct accurate and timely weekly processing of all assigned payrolls.
- Day-to-day payroll maintenance, including accurate and timely processing of payroll entries, direct deposit information, tax information, and employee set-ups.
- Perform analysis of completed payrolls and troubleshoots data inconsistencies and updates as necessary.
- Data management in Human Resource Information System, as well as payroll system.
- Maintain employee paperwork, including employment records.
- Answer questions of current, past, and future employees as they relate to HR and payroll processes and policies.
- Process verification of employment requests.
- Assist with unemployment reporting and fact-finding interviews.
- Track PTO for payroll purposes and update in the proper system.
- Conduct filling of employee records/forms for HR and payroll department.
- Conduct weekly deferred compensation reporting.
- Conduct new hire reporting to appropriate state entity as needed.
- Conduct monthly reporting on hours worked for safety department.
- Assist with new hire orientation as needed.
- Assist with ensuring proper new hire paperwork is completed and entered into appropriate systems.
- Assist Human Resources Director with administrative responsibilities and special projects, including compilation of data, data analysis, auditing, and report preparation/generation.
- Provide support during annual benefits enrollment periods, including distributing information and assisting employees with enrollment processes.
- Assist with audits and other compliance-related activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of all employee information.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
