St Christophers Hospice was founded in 1967 by Dame Cicely Saunders and formed part of the modern hospice movement. Proudly celebrating over 50 years and with a turnover of over £20 million, we provide invaluable care and support to over 7,500 people across the five London Boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark every year. Your new role We are looking for an experienced and resilient HR professional to join our People Directorate which includes Human Resources, Volunteering, Payroll and Organisational Development.
The Directorate supports the organisation in a variety of ways through the creation and implementation of the organisations People Strategy. You will contribute to the design and delivery of People Strategy and the management of change in support of the organisations strategic and operational plans, providing information, advice and HR services as required You will demonstrate professional and expert knowledge and understanding to support staff and managers in a range of HR activities, including employee relations matters (e.g. sickness, maternity, flexible working requests), disciplinary and grievance, poor performance, employee engagement and change management processes. You will coach managers on the implementation of effective people management practices, policies and procedures, as well as provide management support in dealing with performance management responsibilities such as probation, capability and appraisals.
To succeed in this role You will be MCIPD qualification (or equivalent experience) and evidence of continued professional development relating to HR best practice and employment law and possess significant experience working collaboratively in a busy HR department/environment, preferably within a medium to large sized organisation with formal and structured systems in place. You will have experience providing expert HR advice to managers on ER cases and transformation programmes such as TUPEs and Restructures. You will have prior experience of supporting managers through formal processes including demonstrable evidence of helping managers and investigators to produce good quality management cases/reports. A demonstrable level of understanding and knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion, equal opportunities, GDPR and the need for confidentiality.
It is important that you have a good understanding of employment law principles and HR best practice. Significant experience of managing (and supporting managers in) complex employee relations cases You will be skilled at contributing to HR policies and procedures, in addition to HR systems and processes. You will have the ability to manage conflicting priorities and work to deadlines, as well as adapt to changing needs/priorities. You will have a professional and approachable demeanour, and be able to excel working on your own and as part of a team.
You will have excellent literacy skills and the ability to write reports and other HR correspondences. If this sounds like you, we will be excited to hear from you!
