Description:
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources/related discipline or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Human Resource Professional ensuring policy compliance
- Highly proficient use and applied knowledge of Workday, Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Strong interpersonal skills including facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution
- Proven ability to work independently and take initiative for work and project planning.
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, timeliness and drive for results
- Must be able to demonstrate situational judgement
- Demonstrated skills as a change agent
- Ability to interface at all levels within an organization
Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
As a member of GM’s Human Resources Group you are a key contributor in the development, interpretation and administration of our policies for all salaried employees. You are instrumental in ensuring policy compliance. Additionally, you will need strong program management skills to work on large and small-scale projects impacting employees globally.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- You will run continual reviews of current policies to assess relevancy and applicability in an evolving environment.
- You serve as a liaison between (People Human Resource Partner) PHR/ (Human Resource Labor Relations) HRLR and affected leadership to facilitate constructive case review discussions with our legal partners prior to initiating any form of employment action.
- Consult and assist the function/business unit in the handling of employee issues fairly and consistently while maintaining the appropriate documentation.
- Make recommendations regarding employee misconduct that may include discipline or termination of employment and ensure consistency of the recommendations.
- Collaborate in litigation process: collecting data and information, reviewing comparable and participating in depositions.
- You will conduct site visits, attend staff meetings, deliver training, provide policy updates, and meet with HR Managers and PHR/HRLR partners.
- Collaborate with and provide Policy support as needed with other COE’s and functions on various topics and projects
- Act as a project manager to organize, manage and plan complex projects and engage with stakeholders to drive results.
- Provide policy consultation for a dedicated customer base including consultation on employee relations and disciplinary action and other policy matters including but not limited to: employee programs; policies; and performance matters.
- Assist in roll-out and training of various HR Policy initiatives
- Develop, write and present proposed changes to HR Policies
- Provide policy consultation/participate in negotiations on salaried represented unit(s) issues
