PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
Work in a manufacturing environment
This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices
Work is performed in an office/manufacturing setting

Responsibilities:

Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation
Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management
Act as intermediary between employees and management. Facilitate communication, address concerns, and maintain a positive relationship
Advise on workplace policies related to employee issues, needs, and conduct
Prevent and resolve disputes between employees and management
Provide advice and counsel to management on employee handbook interpretation and application. This includes addressing issues related to discipline, work rules, and past practices
Handle workplace investigations, resolve and respond to employee complaints
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records
Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
Provides clerical support to the HR department
May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, and fixing processing errors
Maintaining changes in HR systems like Paylocity and SAP
Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers
Conducts or assists with new hire orientation
Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations
Performs other duties as assigned
Responsible for tracking employees employed through a temp service, as well as organizing start dates, tracking hours, etc.
Creating disciplinary documents and issuing them in alignment with the Head of HR
Performs other duties as assigned
Conducting Interviews and coaching Managers in how to do so
Creating new policies and procedures to support Management in alignment with the Head of HR
Assisting with worker’s comp cases, FMLA or STD
Works closely with assigned departments and the Office of Human Resources to develop and implement human resource activities to ensure adherence with university policies, practices and regulations
